FREEDOM:what it means to me

The very mention of the word and response it evokes is almost universal.A feeling of awe and exitement that challenges the spirit, yet comples humility.it is difficult to define freedom, but each one of us knows what it feels like.
Freedom is what distinguish a bird in a cage from one flying in the sky.Freedom is what we,as citizens of independent India are born with today.Freedom is not a gift but an achievement of many a great martyr who believed that no price was too high to pay for it.Freedom is what India awoke to on 15th Aug 1947.when she overthrew the yokes of colonial rule and established her Independent identity.
Its been sixty one years of Independent.but her people are still living in bondage. The Ganga is crying and the Taj is weeping. The rich cannot be called free-they are slaves of their own money.the ambitious and successful cannot be called free either-they are enslaved by their own destiny.True freedom is FREEDOM OF SOUL.it is the free air to breath.
A persons thoughts, his imagination is like a bird which can't be engaged when every individual can stand up to his conscience, when he can do what he feels is right, when he has the liberty to decide what is good and what is not.thats the true essence of freedom.each one tries to struggle for his sense of freedom, but he must keep in mind that his rights do not violate the independence of others around him.with freedom, comes responsibilities that must be shouldered with utmost care.
It took more than a century and a half to win India's freedom from the british-how long will it take us to win-"OUR FREEDOM"? another century perhaps?
